Dominique Rivoal is a freelance filmmaker and somatic practitioner working with somatic and relational dyadic processes. Her practice-as-research (PaR) doctorate, A Somatic Approach to Filming, introduces the moving camera witness — an approach informed by Authentic Movement (Whitehouse–Adler) and therapeutic dyads (Berner-Noyes), foregrounding mutual attention, kinaesthetic resonance, and ethical relation within the creative process.
Dominique creates films and installations that invite viewers to slow down, sense into relational space, and experience movement as a shared, co-creative process. Her films and installations have been presented at events including the Kinesthesia Festival (2021) and the London Climate Change Festival (2024). Her most recent work is the culmination of a six-year collaboration with Claire Loussouarn, documented in a trailer available here.
As a filmmaker, Dominique is interested in using movement as a way of entering into relationship with self, other, and environment. She is available to work as a filmmaker and welcomes enquiries for collaborations or commissions.
As a somatic practitioner, Dominique has practised Authentic Movement for the past seven years in a closed group with Linda Hartley and co-instigated the London Authentic Movement peer group.
She is currently developing her therapeutic practice in Clearing and welcomes enquiries from individuals interested in one-to-one sessions focused on improving relational awareness and communication.

This is an image of me in Hackney Marshes with all my camera equipment. I filmed there once a month for six year with Claire Loussouarn
